Most known for his work as an off-Broadway director, Sam Long has loved and been involved in theatre since the age of 5 when he played the role of Frere Jacques. He would go on to found the drama club at Maple Hill High School, before becoming their first Student Director, while attending classes at the New York State Theatre Institute in Troy, NY.
After graduating NYSTI's prestigious intern program and instructing their summer program classes, he moved to New York City to study at Pace University and focus on his path as a director. During his time there, Sam directed three full shows, several scenes, and an improvisational comedy troupe that was featured in the Telly Award-winning series "Play It Out" for Mazzarella Media. His last show at Pace, "W.A.S.P." by Steve Martin, won the very first Student Directing Festival II award for Best in Show. Sam went on to make his Off-Broadway debut with "Songs for a New World" by Jason Robert Brown and began his film career appearing as an extra in several movies, including the epic conclusion to Christopher Nolan's Batman Trilogy- "The Dark Knight Rises". He worked as the House Manager and Resident Light & Sound Designer at the Midtown Theater in Times Square for two years before returning to Albany, most recently acting as Technical Director and Lighting Designer for Charlie Ross' "One Man Lord of the Rings" National Tour. |
